4-H youth winners of the 2021 Johnson County Fair livestock Round Robin competition
The following Johnson County K-State Research and Extension 4-H youth won their divisions in the livestock Round Robin Showmanship competition at the 2017 Johnson County Fair, held August 4 in Gardner, Kan.
Round Robin Results:
- Senior 4-H Division: Emma Knappenberger,17 years Old
- Intermediate 4-H Division: Dakota Smith-Allen, 12 years old
- Junior 4-H Division: Tye Allen, 9 years old
Round Robin is a livestock showmanship events that involves the 4-H livestock project species: The grand champion meat goat, market steer, market swine and market lamb. The exhibitors from each age division are selected to compete in the Friday afternoon finale. Exhibitors compete within their age division by demonstrating their skills with each species of livestock in a rotating series of showmanship. Each exhibitor is scored on their showmanship abilities for each species, which combine to create their overall score. These scores are compared to exhibitors within age divisions to determine the Round Robin Champion.
To qualify for the Friday evening Round Robin, 4-H’ers needed to win their age division in one of the livestock species shows at the fair. Round Robin consists of demonstrating showmanship capability with cattle, swine, sheep and goats. Logan, Gabe and Dakota are eligible to compete at the upcoming Kansas State Fair, Sept 10 – 19, in Hutchinson, Kan.
