4-H County Club Day

Return to Agent Articles.

The month of February is an exciting time for our 4-H Community Clubs. The annual County 4-H Club Day occurs during this month.

The Johnson County Fair is the not the only event where 4-H youth get the opportunity to showcase the benefits and opportunities provided by their 4-H project work. With Club Day, the day's activities focus on the youth's skills, such as gaining confidence in their abilities to exercise parliamentary procedure, speak effectively, and creative performances in the arts. The day also allows for youth to participate as an individual, part of a small group or team, or as a large group or club. The variety of options allows for many creative avenues for the youth to express and demonstrate their skills learned throughout the year.

Each activity is designed to recognize 4-H'ers and help them grow their skills by measuring all performances against a published standard of excellence (Danish system). Youth who are recognized as top performers have the option to further their competition at Regional 4-H Day. Youth who receive top honors at Regionals in demonstration and illustrated talks for competitors 10 and older will have the option to continue on to the Kansas State Fair.
