WINTER – 4-H SEASON

The days are short and the nights are cold, but the 4-H program rolls on. When the weather gets nice, soccer, softball and baseball take over the schedule of most 4-H members, like most youth today.

Members will begin the winter season baking, cooking, and filling the air with tasty aromas in preparation for Food Fare scheduled for January 29, 2022 at the Johnson County Extension Office.

Next, members will begin preparing speeches, demonstrations, music and other talents for 4-H Club Day on February 12, 2022. Over 150 4-H members will be competing for a top purple ribbon to represent Johnson County 4-H at Regional Club Day held in Gardner later at a later date.

The Johnson County 4-H Shooting Sports program will be busy planning and hosting this year’s Shooting Sports Match scheduled for February 19-20, 2022. This is a great 4-H experience for youth participating in BB Gun, Air Rifle, and Air Pistol to show off their skills and prepare for summer matches too.

The 4-H members also use this time of year to do many of their indoor projects, such as Foods, Clothing and Crafts.
