Healthier Hot Cocoa
Serves 2
Everyone loves a cup of hot cocoa on a cold winter morning. This take on the classic hot cocoa allows you to ditch the powder stuff and make a delicious cup from scratch.
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 cups unsweetened almond milk (or milk of choice)
- 2 1/2 teaspoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 tablespoon maple syrup
- Pinch of sea salt
- 1 tablespoon dark chocolate chips
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Optional: cinnamon stick
Directions:
- In a small saucepan, heat milk until simmering.
- If using cinnamon, add the stick now.
- Whisk in cocoa powder, maple syrup and salt.
- Add chocolate chips and vanilla extract.
- Whisk until heated and chocolate chips are melted.
