Mill Creek Stream Team

The Mill Creek Stream Team collects water chemistry and macroinvertebrate samples along Mill Creek to supplement other monitoring efforts in the area. Other activities include stream cleanups along waterways, education programs with Friends of the Kaw, and riparian restoration with Johnson County Parks and Recreation.

To monitor, maintain, and restore natural conditions in Mill Creek and other Johnson County streams while providing education and outreach to the public.

Stream Monitoring

Our team monitors water quality indicators in the stream four times a year. We sample for water quality chemical indicators using field instruments and test kits and perform macroinvertebrate sampling twice a year.

Stream Maintenance

Working with the Johnson County Parks and Recreation District and other partners, the water quality project organizes and participates in stream cleanups and habitat restoration, including removal of invasive species, such as Bush Honeysuckle and Garlic Mustard, from stream riparian corridors.

Clean water: It takes all of us.
