Johnson County 4-H Livestock Club
Club Description: The Johnson County 4-H Livestock Club was formed in 2010 as a community club designed to expand the educational resources available to Johnson County 4-H youth involved in livestock-related projects, and to help improve the value of livestock projects in teaching the personal traits of integrity, teamwork, sportsmanship, patience, and responsibility. The objectives of the Johnson County 4-H Livestock Club are:
- To introduce members to the full scope of livestock educational opportunities and keep them abreast of new developments
- To provide members opportunities to expand their current skills through livestock-related learning, teaching, leadership, community service, mentoring, and competition
- To sponsor or co-sponsor livestock shows, competitions, expositions, clinics, and other events that educate and challenge members in their selected project areas
- To encourage communication and cooperation between the members and the livestock-related industry, companies, organizations, and public groups in and around Johnson County
- Through affiliation with Johnson County 4-H, Kansas 4-H, National 4-H, the Johnson County Livestock Association and other associations, to support efforts to strengthen the future of livestock raising
- To introduce novice 4-H youth to the fun and reward of livestock projects
- To employ livestock projects as a means to help each member grow in the personal traits of integrity, teamwork, sportsmanship, patience, and responsibility
You need not own an animal or be enrolled in a livestock project to join the Johnson County 4-H Livestock Club, nor do you have to be a member of the Johnson County 4-H Livestock Club to be enrolled in a livestock project. Our members are enrolled in and actively participate in numerous non-livestock 4-H projects, such as foods, clothing, photography, woodworking, aerospace, entomology, geology, and others. If you are interested in livestock, you are welcome!
