Shawnee Town Gardens

Shawnee_Town_Country_GardenTwo unique gardens are located in historic Shawnee Town. At the corner of Johnson Drive and Cody in Shawnee, Kansas you will find an herb garden and country flower garden. The Johnson County Extension Master Gardeners maintain the gardens and answer visitors' questions every Friday morning from April thru October.

Herb Garden
The herb garden was established in 1992 and contains culinary, medicinal, beverage, and potpourri herbs with a mixture of annuals interspersed. Container gardening with herbs is featured in several whiskey barrel plantings. Interesting paths and arbors are artistically placed to enhance this garden which includes a secret garden. Butterflies and birds are attracted by host plants. No pesticides are used in this eco-friendly garden.

Country Garden
The country flower garden established in 1999 is a lovely mixture of perennials and annuals. Each year this garden showcases the best of the newly released annuals. Interesting and beautiful perennials are intermixed in the beds with an emphasis on ease of care. Visitors to this garden will take home ideas that can be applied in their own garden.
