Healthy Yards and Native Gardens

Kansas Healthy Yards and Communities is an environmental initiative sponsored by Kansas State University Research and Extension. The program's mission is to have yards and communities that enhance our quality of life through earth-friendly practices. Learn specific tips you can follow each month to make sure your yard is a healthy yard and environment.

Native plants are well adapted to your local ecosystem climate, soil, and moisture patterns. They add a richness in diversity and can range in size. They form a synergistic relationship with wildlife and offer support as nectar, pollen and seeds for the diverse population of butterflies, insects, birds and many other animals.
